The College won the National Program Excellence in Software which is a major software education initiative supported by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT).

The program has two main objectives: One is to enhance software (computer science) education in universities, and another is to make coding education mandatory in elementary and middle schools. The College is supposed to carry out various programs for software major students, software-related interdisciplinary major students, mandatory SW education of all students of Chungbuk National University, all students from elementary to high schools, and citizens in Chungbuk province. The College is going to provide such programs from 2019 to the end of 2024, with its annual budget of almost KRW 25B from the Korean government, the Chungbuk National University, Chungbuk local government, and the industry.
