IGNOU Project Submission: The Essential Checklist of Necessary Documents

After months of diligent work, your IGNOU project is finally complete. The writing is refined, the conclusion are drawn, and you are ready to hand in your masterpiece. But handing it in is more than just dropping off the report itself. A successful submission hinges on including a full set of mandatory paperwork. Overlooking even one key document can lead to avoidable rejection. This guide serves as your definitive resource to ensure you have everything ready for a flawless submission.

The Core Document: Your Bound Dissertation

This is, of course, the star of your submission. However, it must be formatted exactly as per IGNOU's specific norms.

  • Number of Copies: You must submit 2 hard-bound copies of your final project report.

  • Printing & Paper: The report must be printed on good quality white paper. Use a clear font like Calibri in 12-point size.

  • Cover: The binding should be professional. Do not use spiral binding or fancy covers. The front cover must clearly display the project title, your name, your enrollment number, your programme name, and the name of your supervisor.

The Absolute Must-Have Paperwork

Within the first copy of your project report, you need to include the following documents. These are absolutely essential and are often the primary reason projects get rejected.

1. The Mentor Approval Form

This is arguably the single most important document. It is a certification from your assigned IGNOU supervisor that they have supervised you and that the work is original.

  • Format: This certificate needs to be on a non-judicial stamp paper of the required value (often Rs. 10/-, but confirm with your guide).

  • Endorsement: It must be properly signed by your supervisor.

  • Location: This original certificate is placed immediately following the cover page of the first copy of your project report.

2. The Student’s Declaration

This is your sworn statement that the work you are submitting is your original work and has not been plagiarized from any other source.

  • Content: It usually states something like: "I hereby declare that this project is my original work and has not been submitted elsewhere for any other degree or diploma."

  • Signature: You must sign this declaration.

  • Location: This page is typically placed following the guide's certificate.

3. Copy of Your IGNOU Student Identity Card

This document is required to verify your identity as a currently enrolled student of the university. Ensure the scan is legible and up-to-date.

4. Photocopy of Your Programme Registration Slip

This document serves as further proof of your registration in the specific programme for which you are submitting the project.

5. The Completed Application Form

This is an formal form that is submitted with your project. It usually asks for basic details like:

  • Your name and enrollment number.

  • Your programme code.

  • Your regional centre code.

  • The title of your project.

  • The title and details of your guide.

You can often download this form from the website of your regional centre or get it in person.

Good to Include Items

  • Acknowledgement: A page where you acknowledge those who assisted you during your project work (guide, family, friends, participants). This is a professional touch and is often recommended.

  • Plagiarism Report: While not always required, some guides or programmes may ask you to include a soft copy of the plagiarism report generated by tools like Turnitin as proof of originality.

Pre-Submission Verification and Submission

Before you seal the package, run through this last-minute check:

  1. Do I have TWO bound copies?

  2. Is the Supervisor’s Certificate on non-judicial paper, signed, and placed in the first copy?

  3. Is the student declaration signed and placed correctly?

  4. Are the photocopies of my identity card and registration slip included?

  5. Is the submission form completely filled out and signed?

  6. Have I checked the entire project one last time for any obvious errors?

Once everything is verified, place all the documents securely inside the front report. Hand over your project to the correct office at your Ignou project report pdf Regional Centre and do not leave without obtaining an official acknowledgement receipt. This receipt is your golden ticket that you submitted on time. Well done! You have cleared a significant hurdle in your academic journey.
